Other possible causes of front-end clunking are loose or hanging brake calipers and worn or warped brake rotors. When brakes are applied the pads move forward to grab the rotor, the high spot on rotor pushes the pad back while the caliper pushes it again forward, this back and forth movement of the pads. I have been fighting with the clunk in my front end for 30k miles and nobody can find anything loose or bad. Whenever I hit the brakes, the driver's front corner makes a clunking noise and feels like it's shifting forward on the control arm. The clunk could be worn sway bar end links, or the brake caliper rattling if it is higher pitched. I noticed right at the end of the video the clunk occurred when you weren't moving. Still getting the sound. They adjusted the alignment and said good. Does the noise go away if applying the brakes? I've seen multiple Titans, including both of mine that had a clunk in the front end over bumps and it was the brake pads (after market and nissan value advantage) have excessive play (up and down) I know it sounds crazy but its a something to check out. I recently had my front end inspected by a commercial auto care facility (not a dealer). Doesn't happen often enough to tell if it happens at a certain speed, going round a bend, etc. Worn ball joints, a bad steering. It happens badly about 30% of the time, and to a much lesser extent 30% of the time, and doesn't happen at all 40% of the time. Could this not be the control arm bushings? I'm not too familiar with the Mustang front end, yet, but my 2003 GTI would clunk up front when the control arm bushings were shot. 56,480 miles bought as a CPO used car from a Ford dealer. This noise will typically occur when the front suspension is returning to the upward position after a hard downward stroke, such as after driving through a large rut or pothole. The other day i started hearing a squeaking from the front wheels that sounded like brake squealersbut theres still plenty of meat on the pads. Didn’t happen at any specific time like suspension compression or rebound. MG MGB Technical Front end clunk BBS discussion. 2 days ago I replaced the top strut mounts thinking they were worn and this was the source of my problem, however the noise persists. see if the bushings are torn through and rubbing in the upper strut plate. How hard I brake does not effect if it occurs or not. so wore out the wheel had play in it. I was hoping it was that my front driver's strut was messed up, but I guess it wasn't.
